Fredericton Tax Payers Not Happy
Ben Schmidt of www.benschmidt.tv a real estate agent of Fredericton, NB and Oromocto, NB video blogs about Fredericton's Municipal Residential Tax Bills just received by homeowners in the mail.
So everyone by now should have their tax assessments in the mail. Some of you may have left them in the mailbox for a little while, I know I did. As we were told municipal residential tax rates rose by 0.85 cents per $100 of assess value. This puts the new rate at $1.4261 per $100 of assessed value. Meaning, if you own a home in the Fredericton municipality and your home is worth $200,000 then your tax bill is almost $3000! ($2968, a $93 increase over last year.) On top of increase municipal tax rates would be the fact that the majority of assessed values rose as well. With the average single-family home increasing an average of 4% last year, (through Fredericton and Oromocto), we in essence see a doubling effect.
