January, 2010 Stats - Market up 32% ?!
Ben Schmidt video blogs about the market activity for 2010. New listings for the month were 239, a dead heat with last year. It was a 22% decrease from January 2008, but both Fredericton, NB and Oromocto, NB's marketplaces were on a roll from 2007. Both cities, record year, which was almost seen nationwide.
Sales were up a whole 32%, with 77, up from 58 this time last year! But before you get too excited, remember that in November 2008, the recession hit everywhere and everyone decided to have a wait and see attitude. If you compare the new listings with January 2008, we had a 5% increase, which is a much better indicator. We are off and running, and 2010 should be a fantastic year for both buyers and sellers.
