My Inner Nerd - Upgrade 2 A iPhone Realtor
Ben Schmidt of www.benschmidt.tv a Fredericton NB and Oromocto NB Real Estate Agent video blogs about how the iPhone has changed his life again!
So, I'm going to let you in a little bit on my inner nerd, because this is, sad to say, the coolest thing that has happened in my real estate career. If you've ever sold your house, or if you've been out looking at homes you'll have seen this apparatus. It is called a lockbox. It wraps around a door handle and encloses the key to the house. It is next to impossible to get into one of these lockboxes.
We have what is called a eKey keypad to enter into the lockbox. It has an infrared, which communicates with the lockbox. The eKey has a battery and a number pad which you can enter your password to access the lockbox. The eKey is big, bulky, ugly, loses its battery and you are constantly forgetting it.
Well Supra, the makers of the current eKey, have come out with a solution for all the iPhone users out there and I LOVE IT! It's small, compact, and it's a keychain. It is a very simple product too. All it is, is an infrared enclosed in plastic, with a 12 pin adapter (or 16 or whatever it is.) It has no battery life to lose. As long as your iPhone/iPod is charged you know your new eKey will be charged. Now that I don't have to constantly take it out of my car to charge it, I won't lose it as much. I now can just leave the new Supra iPhone eKey in my car, and connect to my phone before I go and show houses.
I download an app onto my iPhone, where I can change my password, have a flashlight, open the lockbox, take the lockbox off the door handle, etc. One super cool feature, is all the houses I have for sale, I put a lockbox on. I can put those lockboxes into my inventory, on my iPhone app and whenever that lockbox is open it will tell me the time, date, and the agent that showed the home, and it will be instantly emailed to me! AWESOME.
Life is just great!
